Chicken teriyaki is suuuuuuuuper dry. Would give 4 because of the soup, not every place gets soup.

Tried this place out for lunch time happy hour. Had the rainbow roll and crunch roll... They were ok. Not bad. Not good. Just ok. They gave complimentary edamame but no miso soup. Happy hour prices were not that happy.

I usually get take-out from here. The beef bowl always sits well in my tummy. The sushi is also good...

We've been coming here for the past 2 years. Food is always good. Alaskan roll, fisherman's roll, Downey roll, and monkey brain. Always good. I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews on service. Service has always been good for us. I have seen rude customers during our visits. Customer with attitude! Today, a customer was making a scene because of a coupon or stamp. Ridiculous. Perhaps customers are rude, and not the servers! Good food, good service.

Been here a couple times now with friends and the food is really good, you can tell the stuff they use is fresh (at least when I was there haha). I always order the alaskan roll cus I'm not so good with the raw stuff but from what my friends order, it looks really fresh! I recommend the alaskan roll for anyone that doesn't do the raw fish either, it's really filling and tasty! The staff is friendly as well and I like that this place has happy hour cus it's hard when you're craving sushi but you've only got a couple bucks on you. Will be visiting again soon!

My family and I love this place. They don't hold back on the sizes of the sashimi. My husband and I share a Deluxe sashimi plate and a lobster roll. We're full from just two plates. Their jalepeno appetizer is also awesome! My kids love their udon noodles. This places is kid friendly and plenty of parking space! Their service is great. The sushi chef would send us random appetizers on the house when he's not busy. Definitely our family's go-to place in chino hills.

Ok so my usual night at Samurai is Monday nights by forced influence. Anyway, tonight I really enjoyed the Homeless roll. I generally love udon soup; theirs is a little weak in the broth flavor. Every one who works there are pretty nice.

Used to go there all the time and the food was very good. Tonight I took my daughter and 5 of her friends to eat there and they barely touched their Bento Boxes. They said food tasted old and not good at all . Sad for them cause they really looked forward to going out to eat.

Okay, if this is how they clean the men's room, what does the kitchen look like? disgusting! Must have changed owners? Need to figure out how to post pics

This used to be our favorite place. Sushi is usually very good but the service has really, really, fallen off in the past six months. Disorganized waiters and delays in getting your meals are now common. We just walked out on a Sunday night because no one was there to greet us (after 5 minutes, tables weren't cleared and a waiter we KNOW from previous experience is lost, was there . The food is a good value but if they are not careful they are going to start losing customers (like us tonight).

I can count on Samurai to use fresh fish. I go hear regularly and have only gotten mildy smelly fish once when I ordered the 50% off sushi. Other then that, the sushi has always been really good.

This place doesn't even deserve 1 star. We sat at the bar for 10 minutes. We weren't offered anything. When we asked if we could order the half retarded sushi chef with a blank stare said "oh, uh... You wanna order??". No, we want to stare at the filets that in our face!! Horrible! Too bad... This place is walking distance from my new place

Used to love this place. Sushi chef and kitchen staff are rude and unprofessional. My girlfriend and I would go every other week. We would always get the jalapeno bomb. Tonight, we ordered the usual, jalapeno bomb and two rolls. The jalapeno bomb was disgusting: made both of us gag and tear up. We complained, had it sent back, they voided it (eventually...as they should have...but the chef kept making comments to other customers about us. The chef Danny would heckle us; it made us so uncomfortable that we left without eating...just wanted to get out of that place as sono as possible. NEVER COMING BACK HERE AGAIN.

It's great having this place next to my house. The food has always been very good. The service could be better but I think it's due to a lack of experience from the wait staff. I usually order the fisherman's roll, dynamite roll, mango and avocado salad, or the crispy tofu salad. The salads here are always a hit. I think it's the dressing they use cos for some reason I always crave it. I wish they would have a menu available on Yelp to make ordering easier.

They used to be good. They either get more capital to remodel or lower their price. I mean what they r trying there but it is not working out.

I hate giving low reviews to small businesses but this just needs to be said. Went for lunch with a friend because it was close by. Walked in and the server was nice. That's where it ends. Order our food, and basically someone else brought it to our table and we never saw her again. There were a total of 2 other parties in the restaurant. Seems like she was more interested in chatting with her other co-worker than actually working. The sushi....chef?! I can't even call him that because he just worked there. When two other girls walked in, he seemed so irritated. Not friendly at all. I ordered the lobster roll. It was ok but the thing that pissed me off? It was so not lobster on top of the California roll! It was CRAWFISH. DONT CALL IT A LOBSTER ROLL IF THERE IS NO LOBSTER, MMKAY?? If you want to get sushi/Japanese food, I would recommend somewhere else. It's not terrible and worth a shot, buuuuut don't say I didn't warn you. Oh, AND they should consider trying to clean their restrooms. Ew.

This place doesn't get enough credit for how good it is. Really good sushi, at really good prices and they even have a happy hour! Very satisfied with service and the food.. Defiantly coming here again!

Today my experience with this place was greaaatt! Last time HORRIBLE, but I love their sushi . I'm always here. Today went early and service is good. Try the fisherman roll. ..if you are not too worried about your breath...lol.

The food was excellently prepared, the servers were courteous with a smile..my wife and I enjoy a meal there at least 1X a week. The staff have become familiar with us and most of the time bring out our selections before we have completed our order. They always have a smile...Jim & Myrna..... .

Not the best sushi restaurant around but the closest to my house. It good but it's missing that wow this is great sushi factor. Everything just seems a little off the salad dressing is very watery, the miso soup is blander than most and the sushi will just work in a pinch. It's nothing to write home about. And I live close I think I'll drive a few blocks in the future. There are lots of better options in the area.

My friends, family & I have been coming here for a while now. I'm happy to see a restaurant lasting in this location which means it's a good one! Sushi is quality made & awesome. The rich roll is my personal favorite. Their other noodle dishes are delish too

Very goof Sushi I had the Tuna Roll and salmon roll. Both were very good I will dine in next time.

Menu seems hit or miss. Rainbow roll - delicious. Baked scallop roll was bomb. However, baked lobster and Dynamite roll were kind of gross...

After going there with several friends over and over when it was Haru Haru, boy has this place changed. First of all service is horrible the waitresses always look over to the Sushi Chef if you ask a question, they limit on how much ginger you can have with your food. The place was not even very full and never got our water. Then after our meal came it was the wrong one, I wanted beef not chicken so they redid the food. Then never got refills, so we asked she brought them and they were both mixed with ice tea and diet coke. So we asked for new drinks to go. They said the manager said NO. They do not provide drinks to go. My husband and I were there a month ago. The waitress told us they do not have paper cups. Ok maybe they need to go back to where they came from and eat out of bowls and coconut shells. I definitely will not be back nor will my Realtor friends...$$$$

This place has changed ownership three different times in this past 5 years, which in itself, is always cause for concern. To the novice sushi eater who doesn't have an issue with "fast food" style sushi, this place is probably a "four star" review for you. To the experienced sushi connoisseur, who enjoys fresh sushi at high quality standards, please take note. When I walked in during lunch time, (12-12:30) there were two young girls working to the front. Both of the girls were sitting down at a table near the register and one of them was apparently on her break, eating her food, talking and giggling with the second girl. It must have been a good conversation because neither girl saw me or heard the door chime/bells as I walked in. Standing alone, I took the time to look around the room. I saw one guy at the sushi bar and an elderly couple in a booth in the main dining area. Needless to say, they were not busy. The girl who was not eating eventually got up and welcomed me to "Samurai Sushi". Rather than ask where I wanted to sit (which was the Sushi bar) she pointed to an open booth in the main dining area and told me to have a seat there. I asked if I could sit at the sushi bar and she smiled and said, "Of course!" She asked me what I wanted to drink so I ordered water and green tea. Something I noticed right off the bat was there was no set up. No hand wipes, no sushi plate set up with ginger and wasabi. No complimentary edamame. I didn't even have a napkin or set of chopsticks in front of me. After looking over the menu a few minutes, my water and tea arrived. The "Sushi Chef" looked over at me and asked me if I was ready to order. I asked for a Miso soup, at which time the Chef asked one of the girls to get the soup. They were still sitting at a table to the front, laughing and giggling amongst themselves. I asked for an order of "Uni" (Sea Urchin) and the Chef said they were out of "Uni". Really? "Out of Uni" at 12:30 in the afternoon or just never ordered it because it's too expensive? I mean if that's the case, that's fine. Just take it off of the menu. It's been my experience most "low budget" sushi restaurants don't like to admit they don't buy expensive sushi. This is generally a telltale sign of a "low budget" sushi joint. When they don't carry ANY high quality sushi, sushi eaters should BEWARE! I went ahead and asked for an order of Tuna sushi and a specialty salmon roll. The Chef obliged and after just a few minutes, he quickly set both orders in front of me. Still I had no napkin, no utensils (chopsticks). Oh and the miso soup never made it to me. I went ahead and told the Chef to cancel the miso soup, since my main course had already arrived. The Chef looked at me like I was the one being rude for canceling the soup order. He paused, staring at me and asked, "So..., you don't want the Miso soup?" "Uh.., no thank you. But could I get chopsticks and a napkin?" The look he gave the girls, still giggling at the same table, was the best part of my experience here. At least he showed visual emotion he was dissatisfied with their performance. After getting my chopsticks, I ate one piece of the tuna. Needless to say I was not impressed with the taste. It was very bland, dry and had zero flavor. That was enough for me. I left the second piece on the plate. In order to avoid looking any more disappointed, I asked for my second order to be prepared to go. The "dick move" on my part came when I walked out the doors and dropped it in the trashcan out front. No I'm sure none of them saw me do that but it still felt like a "dick move". Like I said, if you're looking for something just above grocery store prepared sushi, and you want cheap prices here in the Chino Hills area, well then maybe this is the place for you. I have a hard time calling what's served here "sushi" though but to each his own. But if you want high quality sushi that you will dream about after you try it, go to Ojiya's Sushi Restaurant in Chino Hills off of Pipeline and Chino Hills Parkway. This place is Japanese owned, no frills and very discipline style Sushi. No t.v.'s, no rock and roll music playing in the background. Just traditional Japanese dishes prepared and served the way they were meant to be. Trust me, you won't regret it.

Compared to other sushi restaurants, Samurai will have to be the best. The prices are reasonable, portions are great, servers are always energetic, and had never had a problem with them. They tend to give lots of everything you need, including special plates that are "on the house". The chefs are skilled with the foods, are easy to talk to, and never complain. The severs are always smiling and asking if you need anything else. With these reasons there is no other place to go than samurai!

We love this place. Our sushi chef is nice and social. The food is great. I don't know why there negative reviews by so called "Yelp Elitists". This isn't a 4 star restaurant. The food is great for the price.

The worst customer service. They told us our order would take 20 mins. We spent over 100. There was no one in the restaurant at the time. We waited over an hour!!!!!!!!! They forgot to give us a roll. We tried calling in, the line was busy. We drove back and the waitress tried to claim she packed ALL of our food. Spoke back to us. Refused to give a partial refund to compensate for our time and overall a bullshit experience.

The service + food = 2 stars. Came here with my sister and nephew for a late lunch, so it wasn't really busy. The restaurant had more than a few tables that needed to be bussed but the waitresses were just standing in front talking to each other. We finally got seated but as time passed no one bothered to give us a menu. Also, my 4 year old nephew was waving and saying hi to one of the waitresses that was bussing behind our table. He probably said hi to her more than 5 times but got no response. I don't care how cool you think you are but you never NEVER ignore a child. When the food came out, we were served with a rude atittude. They never bothered to fill the water cups and never offered a booster seat for my nephew. Despite the bad service from the waitresses who have an atittude problem; I still gave a decent tip because I know some sushi restaurants split thier the tips with the sushi chefs. Food: the sushi rolls were ok but the fish wasn't really good quality. The only rolls we enjoyed were the lobster roll and tiger roll. However , the food wasn't so delicious or mouth watering for me to ever come back.

SAMURAI IS AWESOME! this place is really small, so all these people saying that there's not good service, all they need to do is wave their hand and they will come, but most of the time the service is awesome, so I don't know why they're complaining. the sushi is awesome! def 5 stars... I've been coming here since I've lived in chino hills and it is always super convenient, quick, and the prices are reasonable

  • Sandra E.

Place is AMAZING & everything is at a great price. I ordered a 4 pc shrimp tempura appetizer and thought they took the wrong order because it came with 4 pcs of veggies... no mistake made all that for 5 bux! Great rolls at great prices too

  • Rozely B.

I have to admit they don't have the best quality sushi but their happy hour gets me coming back. Its one of the best sushi happy hours out there imo. Their rolls have great flavors and they are very generous with their portions. They are a much better option than sushi q down the street in terms of sushi quality. I was a regular there until I found this spot. If you're a sushi snob you should definitely not come here but if you're craving some good solid sushi that is cheap then definitely try out their happy hour (mon-thurs 11-4). I've never been disappointed.

Heaven on earth! Sea bass was amazing. Served with rice, asparagus, and julienned carrots. We also had the Spicy Alaskan, sun kissed, dynamite, shrimp bomb, hot night roll and the ridge roll. Service was excellent and well worth the wait. Really unique flavors going on with the sushi! Everything was great, food was really fresh, and well worth the visit.

First time at this joint and I live less than 5 minutes away. The service was good, but the food and it's presentation was even better. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because our booth was a bit dirty. We received our food in less than 15 minutes, considering we ordered 4 entrees and that we were the first customers of the day. I had the deluxe sashimi platter and it was fresh and delicious. The salad that came along with it had dressing that was a bit too watery for my taste. It was the dessert that blew me away. At RA, a well-known Japanese eatery nearby, their green tea ice cream was just served in a bowl plain. The ice cream here is less expensive and its presentation makes it look mouth-watering. I will definitely come back again.

Fresh! Fresh! Fresh! My go to spot after a getting beat up next door from jiu Jitsu and Muy Thai (Millennia MMA). Gotta get my protein in!! Great lunch prices also from 11-4. I highly recommend this sushi joint to all you fish and veggie lovers.

  • David L.

This places satisfies my whole family, which is honestly not an easy task. We constantly argue about dinner plan. Five people, five very different opinions. BUT Samurai pulls it off. In sum: It has to be relatively cheap for my mom. It has to have good vegetarian options and be fresh for my siblings. It has to be within driving distance for my dad. It has to be filling enough for me. Check on all counts. Service is great too, albeit, they're slightly understaffed. Overall, this place has pretty solid sushi for a pretty solid price. The portions are generous, and the fish is of good quality.

Very disappointed and furious with my previous visit there. Ordered to go for my family, there were two small parties dining in at the time and I was told the order would take 20 minutes. I had somewhat of a big order so I gave them a 10 minute grace period. I walked in at 35 minutes wait time and when I asked about my order a worker told me it was being bagged. It was frustrating to see parties that were dining in getting all of their food and they had got there recently, long after I place my to go order already. Stood there another 10 minutes and asked the same worker who told me my order was being bagged, and he went to go check on it. I finally got my order after 55 minutes wait time. On my way out, a group who was also waiting for their order before me had to get a refund after waiting over a hour and 15 minutes. Got home to notice that they had forgotten a roll, tried calling for about 30 minutes and their phone was busy the whole time. Had no choice but to drive all the way back there. I requested I get the roll as well as a refund on that roll they forgot for compensation for the horrible service and for me to drive all the way back. I argued with the chefs, they refused to give me the refund and said They had no authority to do that. I asked why the phone was off and they said cause it was busy. I asked for the person in charge I had to speak with and they refused to provide his name and just told me to wait for a call from this secret guy and I have still not gotten a call today. Overall not a way to handle a business.

Good food! service is alright. A little bit slow. They'll learn. Great happy hours deals!!

  • Gerry P.

This place is your average sushi stop. The only great thing about it is their happy hour from 11AM to 4PM Monday thru Thursday. Special rolls average about $6 around that time except for the baked lobster roll. One time we came in and ordered the baked lobster roll and it came out really huge. The portion size was an entire plate full of baked lobster, I thought it was great. But when we came recently and ordered the same thing, the baked lobster roll was made totally different. It was much smaller. This place is pretty inconsistent with their food. I guess it really depends on who the sushi chef is that day. Same thing happened with our Philadelphia rolls that we got. One time it came out large in portion, the other time it came out pretty small and drizzled with some kind of mystery sauce. Food 4/5 on a good day Service 4/5 I give 3 stars overall because of the inconsistency. Oh they do have a stamp card which is pretty cool.

Been here multiple times food is always great but the service today was beyond terrible waited 25 min for drinks the sushi was on the table before our drinks and when we asked for refills she practically ignored us so when my buddy got up to get his own refill she was dumb founded please replace your servers ASAP all around bad experience besides the sushi

  • Swathy S.

I see this place everyday as I drive to work and always wanted to try it. I just wanted to check out their options for vegetarians and I was pretty impressed. They have sushi options as well as vegetarian bowls and plates. I ordered the tofu tempura plate with the teriyaki sauce on the side. It was a good portion and it also comes with the miso soup. I was delighted and for someone that was starving for hours this sure was a filling meal. ***Definitely get their homemade hot sauce. If u can handle spicy this is the deal! :)

  • Nick K.

Service was good but what I ordered was terrible I went in for lunch and ordered the bbq chicken lunch combo with a substitue of cali roll for crunch roll. Lets go over this -Salad was drenched in sauce and chewy not fresh and crunchy how a salad is suppose to be -Miso soup was very watery and just very bland -Chicken tasted like it was from flame broiler just that fast food quality chopped chicken -The tempura was light and crispy but I'm talking about one piece just the shrimp, the rest was soggy in oil -The crunch roll tasted like it had some weird detergent taste and was just bad Seriously save your self the false positive reviews and head to ojiya, it might not be the best sushi I have had but in chino hills it sure is king

  • Cynthia M.

I have been here many times, the food is always tasty and the presentation good. I was just in today for their lunch special. I have noticed that their service isn't up to what it has been. Our waitress seemed to be a bit confused, I think she is new. We ordered two rolls and when she came over to ask if everything was okay, I told her we are waiting for our other order. I heard her talking with the chefs about it, she should be the one checking on the order. She didn't come back to us and apologize for the wait. Nothing major, I love the food, chefs are great. I'll be back.

The sushi and food are outstanding. Unfortunately, the serving staff is horrible! When we arrived, we asked to be a seated at the sushi bar, was told to go ahead and seat ourselves. Was completely ignored for 5 minutes before tossed a menu; then listened to one of the servers use profanity at another server. It was the chef who had to take our drink order...then 5 minutes later finally ask if we were ready. The food was well prepared and delicious; .net trying to get a refill on or beverage was like pulling teeth. We got attitude from the servers, so finally we asked the chef if he would refill or drinks. The other negative is the side door where the staff goes to smoke, when door opens all the smoke comes pouring into the restaurant making your food taste like an ashtray. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL SERVERS, CLUELESS, SLOW, AND RUDE. If it wasn't for the food being good we would Definately not go back. On second thought, only take out from now on!

Loveeee this place! I used to live in chino hills and coming here was 5 mins. Used to be called haru haru sushi. I think they changed the name in 2010 ish! Fresh food. Excellent service!!! I must say impressed with the customer service. They are all so nice and we get free stuff 90% of the time sinning there. If you're in the area, don't go anywhere else but here!

Like another reviewer, I miss Haru Haru. We didnt even go that often, but the chefs would always give freebies. Of course, I'd tip at least $5 more on top of my typical for their food costs. Man we'd leave that place stuffed. Anyhoo, this is place has been Samurai for some time & it's still our fav sushi in Chino Hills. Prices are average, but I find their fusion style to be really good. I love getting the spicy tuna bowl. It's got plenty of avocado, vinaigrette, and fancy greens. I wish they included katsu in their bento meals but it's a separate order. But then, it's a nice amount so I can deal with it. Also, service is consistently good.

At first glance, this place is priced 'middle of the road' as far as sushi goes. But there really is a value here.... Compared to the lower priced sushi places in town. At least here, they have something for everyone... Soup, teriyaki chicken, noodles, etc. Not just sushi... Which makes my 7 yr old happy

My daughter and I had a good time here. Dustin made our rolls and sushi perfect. The service was prompt. Dessert was delicious. Prices are comparable. Will be happy to come again.

Came here and the place was a bit busy. We came in and asked for a table for 7 and the waitress was apologetic that they didnt have any available but we had to ask how long the wait was cuz she did not take the initiative to take our party down and tell us herself how long it would be. Then we waited for a good half hour out in the cold while we wait for our table only to have our table given away to another party that just came in not even a minute waiting. We were very furious and spoke with the manager who did not know how to handle the situation and did not do anything but give stupid excuses about why our table was given to someone else. Needless to say, we left very angry and hungry. The food here is good but they need to get their customer service together because that was handled very poorly and they will lose business if it continues.

I had heard this was the new place in town for good sushi, and as my baby says, if we're going to be spending "sushi" money for a casual Friday night, it needs to be good! Between two people, we had: - Nigiri Combo - 12 pieces of nigiri, salad, miso soup - Rainbow Roll - a classic - Super Burrito - spicy tuna, tempura shrimp, crab wrapped in lettuce and soy paper - Tropical Sashimi - 3 kinds of sashimi with mango, avocado, peppers The food was great! The chef even let us try one of the rice-less salmon wrapped rolls (the concept blew my mind - crab and tuna wrapped in a piece of salmon sashimi! I know...), the fish was good, sauces were on point. The tropical sashimi was delicious and came with a big leafy salad which was NOT overdressed. I like that! At first, I had a bad feeling because the customer service left a little to be desired, HOWEVER...the sushi chef assisting us apologized and told us there was some training going on and really took responsibility and cared that we weren't getting stuff in order (soup/salad...sushi, etc.) and that really makes a difference. I felt loads better that he even noticed we were upset and took the extra step to ask us about it and make sure we got what we wanted. In the end, it was a little over $50 for the food listed above plus a bottle of sake. I will come back.

I have been coming here for YEARS for your Chicken Yakisoba plate, as well as the cheap deals on sushi for my friends. No where on your Happy Hour menu located at your table does it specify that if you order multiple rolls along with the Chicken Yakisoba deal that the HH prices apply for only ONE roll & not all rolls listed with the deal. On top of that, the Chicken Yakisoba plate was full priced & I was denied a to-go box due to the HH prices. I understand the purpose of no to-go box for HH sushi, but denying a box to someone who paid FULL PRICE for their meal is poor business practice & for that I refuse to ever return. You robbed me of food I FAIRLY paid for & I suggest you rethink the way you treat your customers. The young guy working just kept saying his hands were tied & it wasn't his decision. Well, I can assure you I will not be recommending anyone back to your restaurant, ever again. I hope taking my money & throwing the leftovers away was worth it.

Just like everyone else, I went to Samurai's just to see what the difference was from Naru Naru sushi (aka Haru Haru Sushi). I used to go to Naru Naru every now-and-then with my buddies and enjoyed it, so I was kind of apprehensive when the waiter told me it was new everything - menu, chefs, and management. First impression was extremely promising.. They had THREE waiters, THREE chefs, and a cook in the back. Waiters were very nice and helpful, came by at all the right times (I hate those waiters who are constantly asking how it is and can they do this or that.. Let me enjoy me food!), and the chefs served up the food faaast! I took my parents with me so I was kind of nervous about the food being up to par. It was sweet though, because my mom loves coconut shrimp and they had this amazing coconut shrimp salad. It was extra sweet when the waiter told me they wouldn't mind preparing the dish with a little less salad and substitute it for a little more coconut shrimp.. All for now extra cost. I ordered my dad a chicken teriyaki bowl, which I assumed was going to be small since it was only 5bucks, but it turned out being this deeeep dish that my dad couldn't even finish. Overall, loveloved the experience and would hiiighly recommend Samurai Japanese Restaurant to anyone in the area looking for Japanese cuisine with quality service!

I usually like this place, but they took like 20mins to give me my udon soup. Everybody finished eating before I even got my soup

I've been here several times with friends and we are always pleased with the food. They have great rolls. I'm especially fond of the Green Bamboo Roll. I've been told by my friend that they are often rather disorganized, but other than trying to serve us an exra udon bowl that no one ordered, they have been pretty good for us. Whenever we're in Chino and we want some good sushi, this is our stop. :)

This place use to be Haru Haru Sushi until it was closed. A new owner bought the placed and named it Samurai Sushi & Teriyaki. The menu is a lot better with more of a selection and greater choices for those who do not eat raw fish (like me). My wife loves sushi which is the main reason why we come here. Prior to the change we noticed there was definite decline in the service as well as in the quality of food. We stopped coming because we were unhappy customers. For me, a good impression is always important. Especially if your looking for some guidance on what to order. Our first visit to the new place was good because we were fortunate to have the head waiter/floor manager take our order. Because of the new menu I did not know what to order and he was extremely helpful and even suggested what I might enjoy considering my dislike for raw fish. Most waiters and waitresses can stand to learn a few things from someone like him. I will always tip someone unless they are completely rude or disrespectful. However, since the service was good and our food was also good. I felt comfortable in tipping more then what is generally considered the norm.

The sushi here isn't the greatest. I had number 47 a spicy tuna roll. It was not spicy and the outside tempura was soggy. The price is okay, but too expensive for the quality of sushi.

This is my go-to sushi place. The food is always fresh and the service is friendly and helpful. I have not had a bad sushi roll from them, hence my continuous business with them. The staff is very friendly. On one of my visits the owner surprised my family and I with a free dessert. I had never seen art like this in my dining experience. The plate had mochi as well as oranges. The orange peel was cut and shaped into a panda. I was very delighted. The staff always makes my family and I feel very welcome and our business appreciated. For the amount of and quality of food you get the price is very fair. The sushi tastes very fresh and, like I wrote above, I have not had a bad meal from them. I have become very adventurous in trying new types of sushi thanks to the high quality that I know I can trust from this restaurant.

Over the last 15 years I've seen this location change hands and become something new, only to fail. The closest thing to constant has been Sushi though. Compared to Hara Haru and Naru Naru has better quality fish, which means a little pricer. Service is OK, doesn't compare to Haru Haru's but I'm probably just being biased since I was at Haru once a week for the better half of a decade.

Been here twice already. Great sushi joint in the chino hills area. Had the soft shell crab roll on my first visit. The crab and everything else on it was fresh. Second visit, had the homeless roll which is soft shell crab, calamari, and eel i believe. Again, everything was fresh. The best part is that the rolls are HUGE AF. I barely finished homeless roll and I did not have breakfast that same morning! The one thing I would flag down is the servers to be a little attentive to the customers like checking up and filling up waters not at the end of the dinner. Other than that, bomb sushi joint

Quality food, big rolls, and cheap in price. The workers are nice. It's definitely my favorite sushi place in Chino Hills by far.

We eat at Samurai at least once a week. I love the sashimi salad!! They have good service and the prices seem to be ok. They always have a A rating when we go in!

We came here for dinner. The wife got udon with shrimp tempura and California roll. I got the chirashi don. The wife enjoyed her udon. The chirashi was decent. The fish quality was good but not great. I did like the fish they used in the dish. The pickled carrots were awful and the fake crab meat tasted fishy. The rice in the chirashi was a small portion. Service was good.

The last couple of times I have come here, my sushi rolls fell apart. I can't exactly enjoy my food if it crumbles before reaching my mouth. When the server asks for you to place your order, I suggest that you do right then and there. Otherwise, you won't see them when you are ready.

I went to try this place out to get my sushi fix on & to see how different it was from the previous sushi spot it used to be, Har Haru. I thought it was going to be the same but I was wrong. The menu was pretty extensive and had way more variety. The prices are pretty standard for a sushi place, about $7-12 for a fresh or baked roll. I tried the Fresh Fish Roll & Hot Roll. Both were good & I was more than full after eat both rolls. I even had help with my rolls and I was still pretty full when I was done. I gave 4 stars because I have a couple fav sushi spots that are amazing and although the quality was good here I've had better. I would go again to fill my sushi cravings if I don't want to travel far (because it's literally down the street from me). I'm looking forward to trying out their other rolls and testing out the happy hour because the happy hour drink menu looked pretty appealing.

I like the resturant because their sashimi is fresh and its food is not pricey at all. The service is good, too. I am thinking about taking a friend of mine to there for birthday party. Yay!!

It was a random visit for us, since we don't live near by. When we got there, we sat in front of the bar, because that's where we normally sit for other sushi restaurants as well. We were not familiar with their menu, so we asked him to make us what they sell the most. First thing that he had made for us was called "Tropical Sashimi" it was something we haven't seen before, so we were not too sure If going to like it or not, but turned out, it was super delicious. Second thing that we tried was called "Mango Sashimi Cocktail"??? Not too sure of exact name, but this was also to die for!! After spending near good whole 2hrs there, the sushi chef offered us something free of a charge. It was really good, but we couldn't find it on their menu. He told us, that is one of their secret menu and was called "Salmon Deep Fried Tempura". We can't seem to remember his exact name, but our sushi Chef had a big sense of humor!!! So, we couldn't stop laughing during our meal times there. It is really far from our usual territory, but we visit that area at least once a month so, we will definitely be back for another sushi adventure.

We are generally disappointed in the sushi selection in Chino Hills, so when we received the menu in the mail, with all of its glorious photos of specialty rolls, we thought we'd give it a try. Couldn't be much worse than the others around us. Started with miso...not overly salty like you so often find, which was nice. We ordered the Fire Cracker Roll, Sexy Mango Roll and the Downey Roll...and...OMG! Everything was sooo freaking delicious! You'd have thought we were re-enacting that Meg Ryan scene! The sauces were unique to each roll...specifically to accent to flavors of the ingredients, not just the same ol' drizzle that you get on EVERY roll, typically. Super reasonably priced and the service was great. We just found our new sushi joint!:-) Highly Suggest if you like suuuuper flavorful specialty rolls!

On a good day it could be as good as a 5-star on the service and 4 stars on the food quality. I agree with someone on the board about the inconsistency. The staffs are very friendly but they are forgetful when they start to get busy. The inconsistency come in the sushi part. We always order the same thing, chirashi don and sashimi deluxe. How can you make them so different each time? We do come pretty often for the friendliness and proximity, but tonight was such a disappointment that I had to give it a 3 when I average out the bad days and the good days! The chirashi came with super thinly sliced fish and no seaweed!! The rice amount was small too! Can't complain much about the sashimi on the chirashi don because they are pretty much scraps. But sashimi deluxe? Come on! Something wasn't fresh because I started to get sick after I got home. I guess we will have to make less frequent trips and try to discover another sushi place that's affordable but slightly fresher fish.

was great before and new owners in the beginning. food started to get soggy, not rolled correctly, smelled differently and got worse and worse each time. unfortunately, watch out for the shrimp. my mom and i got food poisoning with 3 days in the hospital. not cool at all...

Wanted to try a different sushi place after our two others declinded in quality. Rolls were large, creative and tasted fantastic. The 18 piece shashimi plater had large, good quality fish and was really cold. Terriyaki Chicken Bowls were big and kids loved them. A family of 4 was able to eat for far less than what we usually pay for subpar sushi.

Super Unagi Roll = everything my husband and I love in a sushi! What's in it? inside= shrimp tempura, avocado, cucumber, crab meat out= unagi, spicy tuna, avocado... oooh lala! House Special Noodle is so reasonable in price 6.95 with miso soup and steamed rice. Friendly staff... happy atmosphere. We left with our stomachs happy. Great lunch specials. Definitely coming again. Oooh and if you like salmon skin... the Salmon Skin Roll is delish with 5 peices. I want to say more but you really just have to go and taste the food!

I like this place. Their price is pretty good cause you do get a big roll! But it's kinda dark...maybe it's designed for that cause they do have alcohol.

I give this place 5 stars because it's awesome. Great food and drink, great prices and great service, what more could you ask for? This place is a great addition to my neighborhood!

This place has better service than Haru Haru thats for sure. I've been coming here a couple of times because it's really close to my house but the last time I came I called to order togo and got placed on hold for at least 5 minutes. Then I went into the restaurant to put in the order and they apologized for putting me on hold for so long and told me my food should only take 15 minutes tops. 10 minutes later a group comes in and demands a table and the waitress asked me if I could move. I was annoyed that she didn't just ask the group to wait for 5 minutes. As more people came in I had to wait outside in the cold. This was the worst experience I ever had and I was even more mad that they didn't try to compensate for what happened; all they did was apologize. The only reason I keep on coming back is because it's so close to where I live but I wouldn't recommend going during their busy hours.
